Omar L. Gallaga got the acting bug when he helped government officials transport a small monkey from the wilds of Africa to a lab in Virginia. The cage broke, the monkey tore a chunk of Gallaga's arm, and the rest is theatrical history.
Gallaga, a founding writer and performer with LCP, is a journalist who writes about technology for the Austin American-Statesman newspaper. He's been a reporter and editor for 10 years, including stints as editor of the Spanish-language newspaper ¡ahora sí! and editor of the personal technology section, "Technopolis." He covered the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 for The Oklahoma Daily and for Reuters. He has also written for MSNBC.com, Hispanic magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Tulsa World and Windows magazine.
He performed as the voice of Shido Fuyuki in the U.S. version of the popular anime series "Getbackers." He has been a staff writer on TelevisionWithoutPity.com since 2000 covering shows including "Smallville," "Third Watch," "The West Wing" and "Californication."
You can also find his writing on Terribly-Happy.com, his personal Web site and in "Space Monkeys!" an online comic he produces with his brother, Pablo Gallaga, at actiongravy.com. He was a staff writer and performer on the debut season of "The Almost Late Show With Bobby Bones," produced by ME Television.
For the Latino Comedy Project, he has created enduring characters including Uncle Pepe, The Piojo, Maria Villanueva: Chola Abogada and Officer Funboy. He lives in New Braunfels, Texas, with his wife and recently co-produced a baby girl, much to the horror of his fellow troupe members.
