Having escaped the Rio Grande Valley in search of fame and fortune, Mical Trejo opted instead to hang out in Austin for a while. St. Edwards University cautiously awarded Trejo a BA in Theatre Arts in 1997. Mical performed in countless equity productions at St Ed’s while simultaneously working at Esther’s as a writer/actor. Upon graduating, Mical joined the Latino Comedy Project as a founding member.
Mical remains heavily involved in the local theatre community serving on the Board of Directors for Hyde Park Theatre where he has starred in productions of Blue Surge and a show he co-produced with HPT, Radio:30. Mical has also drawn rave reviews for his performances Double Exposure, and the NY production of Blah, Blah, Blah. More recently Mical has joined the touring cast of Salvage Vanguard Theatre’s Intergalactic Nemesis, sliding into the lead role of Timmy Mendez.
Trejo has branched out to the worlds of TV and radio as well. He can be seen hosting the New Media Review on ME Television on Tuesday nights, as well as serving as head comedy writer / co-host for The Almost Late Show with Bobby Bones in addition to daily reporting duties on ME-TV. Mical has also spent the past 6 years as an on air personality for the Clear Channel family of radio stations hosting everything from a morning show to afternoon traffic reports.
Mical is proud of all that LCP has done since it all started but is quick to remind folks that the best is yet to come.
