Having escaped the Rio Grande Valley in search of fame
and fortune, Mical Trejo opted
instead to hang out in Austin for a while. St. Edwards University cautiously
awarded Trejo a BA in Theatre Arts in 1997. St Eds audiences will
remember him for his portrayal of quirky British men (typecasting) in
"Pygmalion" as Col. Pickering, "Whodunnit" as Perkins,
and "Great Expectations" as Wemmick. Mical performed in other
shows there such as "Fuente Ovejuna" and "Life Is A Dream",
but those roles were not British. Still a student at St. Eds, Mical
landed at Esthers Follies for two years where he learned how to
write and direct sketch comedy, while sweating profusely. Since graduating,
Mical continued this acting thing and wound up with the Latino Comedy
Project. Micals performance in "Time Bandidos" garnered
him an award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy by the Austin Critics
Table. Of all the awards Mical and LCP has won, there is still one that
continues to elude him
The Heisman Trophy. Mical recently starred
as MIKASE, the cocky pilot of a big ol robot in the Japanamation
series "Dai-Guard". You can also hear Mical as an on air personality
(DJ) on Austins Jammin
105.9. Seriously. |
